What counts as AI usage?
AI usage is the cost of AI work Pharaoh performs while investigating issues, planning repairs, summarizing results, and helping with other AI-assisted workflows.
How is usage measured?
Pharaoh records the provider usage details behind each request, including input tokens and output tokens. Tokens are the AI provider's metered units for text sent to and returned from the model.
How does Managed AI bill usage?
Managed AI uses Pharaoh-managed provider access. Pharaoh bills actual provider cost plus a 20% management fee, reported monthly as metered usage.
How does BYO Key change usage fees?
BYO Key removes Pharaoh-billed AI usage fees. Your provider bills those model calls directly, while Pharaoh can still track usage analytics so you can understand activity and cost impact.
Can usage be capped?
Yes. Set a hard monthly cap anytime. Pharaoh checks spend limits before expensive AI work runs and blocks further AI work when the limit is reached.
What is an active endpoint?
An active endpoint is a deployed Pharaoh agent instance with a successful heartbeat in the billing window. Devices can age out after 14 days without a successful heartbeat, and deleted or explicitly deactivated endpoints stop future active intervals.
What happens if usage modes switch mid-month?
The usage mode is saved on each request. Managed usage before switching to BYO remains billable by Pharaoh; BYO usage after switching is not billed by Pharaoh as AI usage.
Is hardware included?
No. Hardware is separate from the software subscription. It is optional or situation-specific, typically used when teams need durable access to machines ordinary remote tools cannot reach.
